A metà degli anni 60 Decca aveva già separato le sue attività pop, ma aveva bisogno di suddividerle ulteriormente, per distinguere tra artisti come Tom Jones, Val Doonican ed Englebert Humperdinck e questa nuova area musicale. Così nel 1966 Tony Hall, e Hugh Mendl, produttore e responsabile A&R, ebbero lidea di formare un etichetta affiliata, la Deram. Sebbene le linee di demarcazione tra Decca e Deram non fossero così nette come originariamente previsto, “Psych!” dimostra come le due etichette fossero allavanguardia e lanciassero, o rivitalizzassero, la carriera di una serie di artisti, tra cui i Genesis i Moody Blues. Oltre agli artisti principali, le due etichette pubblicarono dischi di artisti come Tintern Abbey, Khan, Jan Dukes De Grey e T2 che anno formato un catalogo notevole di voci originali e musica eccezionale.
